The Transtar Group, a prominent German Contract Logistics company, has been a trailblazer in the European logistics landscape for decades. Operating across Europe, they have consistently demonstrated their commitment to efficiency, reliability, and innovation in the transport industry.

Like many logistic companies in Europe, the Transtar Group turned to their preferred trailer-builder manufacturer to source a new trailer fleet and find new ways of enhancing the service they offer their clients. A compulsory option for the trailers was to have the new fleet fitted with our iconic Skate & Track system.

They even proudly branded their trailers with "#JolodaExpress" to highlight their status as the quickest Joloda Transport service provider in mainland Europe. The decision to embrace the Skate & Track system was driven by the system's advantages and importance in logistics operations.

The Transtar Group faced a common logistical challenge: the need to transport a diverse range of cargo efficiently and securely. Their primary concern was the transportation of paper rolls and pallets, which demanded specialised handling to prevent damage and streamline loading and unloading processes.

Traditional methods involving forklifts presented various drawbacks, including the risk of product damage and limitations in space utilisation. Transtar Group needed a solution that would not only overcome these challenges but also increase overall efficiency and reduce maintenance requirements.

the solution: joloda's skate & track system

Our Skate & Track system offered the ideal solution and the Transtar Group opted for our Heavy Duty skates, specifically the HD Max variant that’s capable of lifting and handling loads of up to 3.5 tonnes, per pair to handle their logistical hurdles.

This innovative system, originally invented in 1962 and refined over the years, is now recognised as the go-to solution for transporting paper reels and pallets in trailers. The system is ingeniously designed to ensure the smoothest transportation of paper rolls and pallets. The skates themselves feature a lever mechanism that effortlessly lifts the cargo onto rollers, enabling easy movement along the length of the trailer.

The trailer’s track system comprises four steel tracks, aptly named combi-tracks, recessed longitudinally into the trailer's floor. These tracks serve as the foundation for the Skate & Track system, as they allow for the skates to roll under the cargo to enable them to easily lift. Combi-tracks feature strategically placed holes at floor level to accommodate system accessories, such as chocks or lashing hooks to secure paper reels (or other cargo) to the trailer whilst in transit.

New Product

introduction of new lightweight skate

Joloda Hydraroll has recently added a new product to the Skate & Track loading system lineup, we now also offer a lightweight aluminium skate to complement our original steel-type skates. The aluminium skate is half the weight (with a lifting capacity of 1,600kg per pair), which makes it even easier to handle – the ideal solution when weight-saving is key.

Our new aluminium skate weighs only 7kg each and is 5kg lighter than our typical steel skate-type, making it an undeniably lightweight system. This reduces the strain on the operator when manually manoeuvring the skate (and the load) on and off trucks.
